Nadur has long been known for its fertile valleys and early crop yields. To showcase this produce, Nadur local council organises a yearly agricultural show in the days preceding the feast of Mnarja.
To commemorate this event, mosaic artist Mary Portelli designed a mosaic panel depicting the abundance of crops, including fruit trees, fields of clover and grazing sheep, cheeselets, wine, honey and a wicker basket full of fruit and vegetables. The rising sun dominates the upper part of the mosaic together with the inscription Il-ħolqien jitbis-sem from a poem on Nadur by Fr Mattew Sultana. The panel has been affixed to the façade of the council’s centre.
At the centre there is also a water calvert which was used by farmers to channel water from springs to their fields.
