Two Syrians pleaded guilty yesterday to human trafficking while two Maltese denied similar charges in a connected case.

Mahmoud Hamad, 28, and Issam Hamad, 29, both residents of Marsascala, were accused of trying to help some people to land in Malta illegally on Saturday.

They admitted to the charges and were conditionally discharged for two years.

The two Maltese are Grezzju Abela, 62, from Fgura, and Clayton Neal Camilleri, 31, from Żebbuġ.

They were accused of organising and financing a crime and of helping people break immigration laws.

They pleaded not guilty.

Inspector Edel Mary Camilleri prosecuted.
