The following upcoming events are being held at Mount St Joseph retreat house, Mosta. For enquiries and bookings, e-mail info@mtsjoseph.org or call 2276 0000.
Fr Alfred Micallef SJ and other spiritual guides will lead a personally-guided retreat that may range from three to seven days in duration, from Friday, April 27 to Thursday, May 3. Participants will have quiet time with the Lord to dig deeper or consolidate what they believe in. The retreat includes an individual daily discussion with one of the guides, substantial time for personal prayer as well as sharing of experiences with other retreatants.
Maria Theresa Portelli will lead a one-day experience on May 5 called ‘Using a Labyrinth to Pray’ in which participants will learn the ancient form of walking meditation called the Labyrinth. This is a means of reaching an internal ‘sacred space’ where one can come in touch with God on a deeper level. The event will be held on World Labyrinth Day, celebrated by people around the globe who use this method of prayer.
Prof. Anthony Frendo will lead a seminar entitled ‘Violence in the Old Testament’ from May 18 to 20. During the seminar, Prof. Frendo will explain how the violence one finds in certain Old Testament passages may be reconciled with the mercy of God. The seminar will propose ways of interpreting this dilemma, and will also include moments of personal reflection.
