The Mellieħa local council is calling on the authorities to take action as soon as possible to widen Manikata Road, in Manikata following Friday’s accident when a car fell a height of about a storey and a half into a field.
A woman and three children were taken to hospital as a result of the accident.
The council noted that the road handled a lot of traffic and was also used by public transport buses.
“The council has, for several years, called on the central government to address [the traffic] problem that in recent years continued to grow. The council reiterates its call to find a solution to ease traffic in the core of this community,” it said.
