The Wine Boutique Franks has launched its private-label gin and vodka, doanting 50 per cent of profits to an NGO supporting the LGBTIQ community’s rights.
The boutique has also expanded its range of whiskies to stock single malts from non-traditional whisky-producing countries like India and Australia.
The biggest accomplishment was the launch of a private label single-malt Scotch whisky that has been matured in a barrel of Guze, a sweet red wine produced by Marsovin.
The inspiration behind this Scotch whisky with a Maltese taste came to Andrew Abela, general manager of The Wine Boutique Franks, when he spent a week working with Kilchoman on the isle of Islay in Scotland.
The limited edition whisky is the first ever that has been aged in a Maltese barrel.
The Wine Boutique Franks is on Level 2 of The Plaza in Sliema. For more information, e-mail aabela@franks.com.mt or call 2131 6201.
