Dannii Minogue has announced she has split from Kris Smith, the father of her son.
The former X Factor judge, 40, has revealed the break-up of her four-year romance with the 33-year-old English model in a Twitter post. Dannii said the couple still cared for each other but their number one priority was now their 21-month-old son, Ethan.
Australian singer Dannii, who has also been a judge on Australia’s Got Talent, began dating Kris in 2008 after they met in a nightclub in Ibiza. The couple had shared a home in the suburbs of Melbourne, Australia, after moving from the UK to bring up their young son.
Long-life babies
Around a third of babies born this year (35%) are expected to reach the age of 100, according to a new report by the Office for National Statistics.
The publication - What Are The Chances Of Surviving To Age 100? - said men and women who turn 65 this year have only a 10% and a 14% chance respectively of living to celebrate their century.
In 2012 there are expected to be 826,000 births - 423,000 boys and 403,000 girls. The report estimates that 135,000 (32%) of these men and 156,000 (39%) of these women could still be alive in 2112.
Middle ground
A Nepalese politician and gay rights activist has asked Facebook to include a third option for people who do not identify themselves as male or female.
Sunilbabu Pant said he wants an option of “third gender” or “others” when signing up because people who do not identify as male or female continue to be sidelined by Facebook’s options. He said he had not received any response from Facebook but was hopeful.
Seven-year hitch
Police in Nepal have rescued a Slovak woman being held by followers of a man some say is the reincarnation of Buddha.
The 35-year-old was held in a forest where Ram Bahadur Bamjan has been meditating for seven years. Several Buddhist scholars are sceptical of claims that Bamjan is the reincarnated Buddha.
