Journeys, both literal and allegorical, are the theme behind a collective artistic and literary event, Titlaq/ Tasal, being organised by artists Ryan Falzon and Sabrina Calleja Jackson at the Xarolla Windmill in Żurrieq.
The collective brings together a number of young artists and writers who, for this project, have used their medium to create their understanding of their journeys.
Through their literary and visual interpretations, they will impart this understanding to their audience.
The works will be presented for the first time during an artistic-literary evening that will be held at the exhibition space itself.
The Xarolla Windmill is, in fact, the base of a long-term artistic project being run by Falzon and Calleja Jackson, presenting an open studio where the public can interact with artists during the creative process itself.
Titlaq/Tasal is the first event forming part of the Xarolla project. The artistic-literary evening that will launch this exhibition is being co-ordinated by Glen Calleja, while the whole project is being held in collaboration with the Żurrieq council.
The participating artists are Sabrina Calleja Jackson, Fabio D’Amato, Ryan Falzon, Sarah Maria Scicluna and Andrea Zerafa.
The writers are Nigel Baldacchino, Leanne Ellul, Ryan Falzon, Marie Gion, Simon Sultana Harkins and Martha Vassallo.
The Titlaq/Tasal artistic-literary evening is being held on Saturday at the Xarolla Windmill, Żurrieq, at 7.30pm. The exhibition will then be open to the public next Sunday and on July 13 and 14 between 8am and noon.
