The Maltese synchronised swimming team recently participated in the Austrian Youth Competition, held in Vienna.

This event featured more than 250 competitors from 13 countries including Russia, the world’s strongest country in the sport.

The Maltese girls produced excellent performances to secure a podium place, winning bronze in the team combination.

Malta head coach Saho Harada said: “The girls have been training very hard and their efforts paid off.

“Every time I go abroad as the national coach of Malta, the girls make me proud.”

“Their potential and possibilities are unlimited,” Harada added.

The swimmers, all aged under 12 years, were Kristina Camenzuli, Hayley Camilleri, Neeve Cauchi, Ana Culic, Maya Galea, Emily Loucaides, Vanessa Mairangas, Victoria Pace, Hanna Rizzo and Charlotte Spencer.

Mairangas also participated in the solo competition, placing seventh in routine from among 22 girls.

The synchronised swimming squad will now intensify preparations for their upcoming competitions this summer.
