The Zazu Football School (ZFS) has renewed its sponsorship agreement with Michael Attard Ltd, local importers of Peugeot and Citroen cars.

The ZFS was launched in 2004 by renowned Maltese coach Ray Farrugia. Eleven years on, the ZFS is still alive and kicking, consolidating its reputation as one of the leading youth academies on the Maltese islands.

Farrugia expressed his gratitude to Michael Attard Ltd for extending their long association with his school.

“I have said this time and time again but the truth is that the backing of companies like Michael Attard Ltd is vital for us,” Farrugia said in a statement.

“For the past 10 years, the Zazu Football School has stayed loyal to its philosophy of offering the best training and guidance to youngsters not only to improve their footballing understanding and skills but also to aid their character formation.

“Running a football school is not easy but with the support of the parents, the enthusiasm and dedication of our young pupils and the backing of Michael Attard Limited gives me and the coaches the motivation to keep going.”

For his part, Michael Attard, director of Michael Attard Limited, said his company recognises the benefits of fostering a healthy lifestyle among children through sports participation.

“We have been sponsoring the Zazu Football School for the past six to seven years,” Attard said.

“Ray and his team of coaches are very dedicated. They love football and want to share their knowledge and experience with youngsters.

“Sports is a pillar of our society. It’s important that we nurture a sporting culture among our children and this is why we support the ZFS because they encourage the young generation to practise football and become better players and individuals.”

The ZFS hold training programmes for children aged five to 14. Sessions are held at the San Ġwann FC grounds.

On May 29, the ZFS will hold its annual end-of-season penalty shoot-out which is also open to non-students.

The summer school will kick off in the first week of July.
