Malcolm Bezzina, a 28-year-old salesman from Tarxien and Tracy Gatt, a 26-year-old secretary from Sta Lucia, are today, Valentine's Day, competing against each other on the number of hours they can spend secluded in a bedroom which has been set up in the Artisan Market at Bay Street.

During their stay, they will not be allowed to have any communication with the outside world. The winner will receive a brand new bedroom courtesy of CBR Furniture of Luqa.

The bedroom will be closed off with transparent Perspex, so that the public can watch the contestants throughout the challenge. The contest will start at 7 p.m. and is expected to last for at least 48 hours. The contest is also being streamed on the Bay Street website, via a web cam.

The contest will also serve as a fundraising event for the Ghana Mission Foundation, which is responsible for the building of a health centre in Ghana.
