The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Anglu Farrugia was today handed a medal for long and efficient service in the police force.

Dr Farrugia served in the police force between 1977 and 1996, rising to the rank of superintendent. He then graduated as a lawyer, left the force and took up politics.

The medal was presented by Home Affairs Minister Carmelo Abela and Commissioner Michael Cassar during a ceremony which saw 11 Inspectors promoted to Superintendent rank.
