The Houses of Baroque Valletta 1650-1750 by Mevrick Spiteri is a new publication about houses in Valletta under the Knights of St John.

The book is the result of an in-depth and interdisciplinary study and brings to light new aspects on the reshaping of Valletta's urban space by delving into property transformation, social attitudes and economic concepts.

The author's work underlines the much-needed attention for the research of primary sources as tools for a wider and fuller comprehension of historic, spatial and cultural values.

The new book, published by Midsea Books in collaboration with the International Institute for Baroque Studies, University of Malta and the National Archives of Malta, will be launched on Thursday, November 25.

Chaired by Prof. Denis De Lucca (International Institute for Baroque Studies), and with presentations by two other eminent speakers, Judge Dr Giovanni Bonello and Dr Charles J. Farrugia (National Archives of Malta), the launch will be held in Maltese at the National Library of Malta in Valletta.

Due to COVID restrictions, attendance will be limited to invitations.

The book can be purchased directly from Midsea Books and from https://www.midseabooks.com/.
