Abela calls on the Pope at the Vatican

Discussion centred on the need for world peace

Prime Minister Robert Abela had a private audience with Pope Leo at the Vatican on Monday.

Abela said in a Facebook post that this was a 'special' meeting where the central theme was the need for world peace.  

Abela said he expressed his wish for the Pope to revisit Malta, having previously come to the islands before his election. 

The prime minister was accompanied by his wife Lydia and their daughter Giorgia Mae.
