Minister Tonio Borg, writing in The Times last Wednesday, was correct to note that the so-called Maltese liberal elite are out of tune with the rest of the country. These gentlemen and women who dominate many an opinion column have hurled all sorts of verbal abuse on the minister for the proposal to entrench the anti-abortion law in our Constitution. The attempt of these pseudo-liberals to persuade public opinion fell on deaf ears.
A survey conducted by Xarabank showed that 88 per cent of those polled are in favour of the constitutional amendment. One hundred and twenty-four organsations already showed their support. These included all sorts of organisations, including the Chamber of Advocates. This shows how mistaken is the argument that these provisions make no legal sense.
A Christian Outlook appeals to the minister to ignore the insults of the pseudo-liberal fundamentalists and move forward with the comfortable support of the Maltese.
