The Msida council yesterday complained that it was only after the media drew attention to the state of Valley Road that the authorities yesterday began carrying our repairs.
The council said it was also surprised that the works actually got underway before those carried out by a private contractor, after the Malta Transport Authority had postponed on the excuse that it could not start before the contractor was finished.
The council hoped the works would include the reconstruction of the centre strip, which posed a danger to drivers.
It also expected the works to cover other roads earmarked in Msida, in accordance with government's programme of construction of residential roads which include Balliju Guttenberg Street, part of Ġostra Street, Santa Venera Alley, Kunżar Street, Casolini Alley and Church Street.
"Any further delay shall not be tolerated and the Msida council will not allow its residents be treated as second class citizens by government authorities," it said.
