A late night session in front of a computer screen averted tragedy for a Melbourne man last night when a car crashed right into his bedroom.

The car hit a centre strip, went out of control, crashed through a wooden fence and into the front bedroom wall of Dimitrios Bisbelas' home at around 2am this morning.

The 31-year-old said he was lucky to be alive.

"I thought it was an earthquake," he said.

"Accidents happen. It was just circumstance I wasn't in my room," he said.
