Seven tourists and a van driver were injured in a crash involving a van and a car on the Coast Road in St Andrews just after 9am.

Their injuries are not believed to be serious.

Sources said the 61-year-old driver of the car, a red Corvette, was unhurt despite extensive damage to the right side of the vehicle, because the car is left-side drive. He is an avid collector of classic cars and was driving his car for the VRT.

The van was also extensively damaged. It had been taking the tourists to Gozo.
