A 20-year-old man was yesterday charged with trying to run over two police constables in Gzira on Saturday.

Nicholas Borg, of Gzira, pleaded not guilty to trying to seriously injure PC Saviour Spiteri and PC Christian Mifsud, assaulting them, driving dangerously and recklessly, speeding and causing over Lm500 damage to a police car.

He was granted bail against a Lm500 deposit and a personal guarantee of Lm2,000.

Police Inspector Norbert Ciappara prosecuted.
