A 57-year-old man was yesterday charged with violently and indecently assaulting his three-year-old daughter in the past months.
The St Paul's Bay man, whose name cannot be published by court order, pleaded not guilty to his daughter's defilement and violent indecent assault.
He also pleaded not guilty to keeping her against her will as a means of compelling her to do his bidding and exceeding the limit of the authority he had over his daughter.
The man was granted bail against a Lm1,000 deposit and a personal guarantee of Lm5,000. As part of the bail conditions, Magistrate Antonio Mizzi ordered the man not to approach his daughter.
Police Inspector Louise Vella prosecuted.
Dr Franco Debono appeared for the man.
