Alex Spiteri, 27, of Qormi was yesterday charged with trafficking in cannabis resin within 100 metres of a school or youth centre.

Spiteri pleaded not guilty to trafficking in the drug and to possessing it in circumstances denoting it was not for his personal use.

Magistrate Michael Mallia, who presided over the arraignment, granted Spiteri bail against a personal guarantee of Lm2,000.

Police Inspector Dennis Theuma prosecuted.

Dr Joseph Giglio appeared for Spiteri.
