A 14-year-old boy was granted bail against a personal guarantee of €10,000 after he denied slashing his sister's former boyfriend.
A fight involving about 20 people broke out in Buġibba at about 6 p.m. last Saturday during which the accused, who cannot be named because he is a minor, waved a pen knife and allegedly slashed the victim in the arm. The fight was about an argument involving the sister of the accused and her boyfriend, police sources said.
The boy pleaded not guilty to seriously injuring his sister's ex-boyfriend, threatening him and carrying a knife without a licence.
Magistrate Edwina Grima granted him bail against a heavy personal guarantee and gave him a stern warning that if he was not careful and abide by the bail conditions his father would lose the guarantee.
Lawyer Michael Sciriha was defence counsel.
