An Egyptian national was yesterday charged with breaking into a house on Sunday morning.

Ibrahim El Degwy, 38, who resides in Xaghra, Gozo, pleaded not guilty to stealing over Lm1,000 in cash and gold items from a Rabat house and causing over Lm50 in damages.

Defence counsel Joseph Giglio told Magistrate Joseph Cassar he was not requesting bail at this stage because the prosecution declared they still had to summon eyewitnesses.

Mr El Degwy was remanded in custody.

Police Inspectors Silvio Valletta and Carlo Ellul prosecuted.
