Accused of unlawful detention

A 31-year-old man from St Lucia was yesterday arraigned on charges of having assaulted, detained and injured Rosaria Galea. Mario Sciberras was charged with having, last weekend in Cospicua and Vittoriosa, unlawfully detained Galea, who is the mother of his child, and with having threatened her. He was also charged with having injured Galea in the face and with attacking her.

Inspector Anthony Cassar also charged Sciberras with having caused damage to Galea's car and with having driven his own car at excessive speed and in a dangerous manner.

The accused was also charged with disturbing the public peace and with being a relapser.
