There has been a positive response to BirdLife Malta's fourth edition of the Dinja Wahda (One World) project, launched in October 2003. Numerous schools took up the challenge.

The frontrunners in the scheme are so far (1) Paola Primary B; (2), Kalkara Primary and (3) Siggiewi Primary but the competition is very strong and the situation may yet change, the promoters said.

School visits carried out by the representative of BirdLife Malta confirm that most schools are actively participating in the competition, which has the environment as its theme. A popular trend has been to combine the Dinja Wahda competition with other projects also being pursued by the schools.

Some schools have taken the project to another dimension and further embellished the school grounds by planting trees with the participation of students.

Other schools are sowing oak seeds for the Foresta 2000 project and have organised school outings to the Ghadira nature reserve.

All activities organised by the schools are awarded points under the Dinja Wahda scheme.
