Actor Ray Bone, known to thousands of Maltese for his role in the TV series Deċeduti has died aged 66. 

Bone is also remembered for his role in several other Maltese sitcoms, such as Dun Benit, Santa Monika, One Star Hotel, Ipokriti and most lately, Nostalġija, where he played the part of Dun Mundu. 

On Sunday, tributes poured in for the actor, as artists recalled fond memories for Bone. 

The national broadcaster, TVM, thanked Bone for his work, and said that next Wednesday and Thursday at 9 pm it will be broadcasting Deċeduti, where Bone played the character Leli. 

TV producer and screenwriter Eileen Spiteri, who worked with Bone on Deċeduti described him as “one of the most caring, humble and sweetest people” she has ever met and worked with. 

“May you rest in peace and make the heavens laugh for eternity,” she added. 

Actor Ronald Saliba said that while the news of his passing was expected, it still came as a shock to him. 

“I pray for you and your family who stayed by your side until your last breath. I pledge to do my best to remember you as Dun Mundu. A character you brilliantly portrayed and one that put a big smile on the audience of Nostalġija.” 

Actor Franky Borg also was shocked at the news of his colleague’s death. He said he had the honour and pleasure of acting with Bone on Nostalġija.  

Bone also played for Valletta FC for several years, and members from the locality and football world also paid tribute to him.  

The funeral will be held on Tuesday afternoon at Zebbug church.
