Alternattiva Demokratika has expressed disappointment at the approval of the development of 46 apartments on a private garden in Balzan.

The party noted that Policy CM02, "Protection of Private Gardens within the Three Villages" stated that the MEPA "will protect all gardens and open spaces within Urban Conservation Areas of the Three Villages of Attard, Balzan and Lija."

AD said this development would result in heavier traffic through narrow one-way streets.

"Gardens are part an integral part of the unique character of the area. It is a pity that MEPA is failing in protecting these gardens," Mark Causon, AD's environment spokesman, said.
