After years of active participation in the Malta-EU Steering Action Committee, Alternattiva Demokratika has not been invited to participate in its new core group.

AD chairman Harry Vassallo, who actively participated in the core group since EU accession negotiations started, said AD was willing to serve the country through this body.

"While MEUSAC was boycotted by the Malta Labour Party, AD gave its full contribution to the country through its work in MEUSAC. AD reaffirms its willingness to serve in the MEUSAC core group in order to continue its work for the best of Malta and Gozo," he said.

AD is also proposing that MEUSAC should be accountable to parliament rather than to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"... This input must be related to the legislative function of parliament and have a national character not directed by a minister of a one-party government."
