Travel adapters banned some time ago are again on the market, the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority warned this morning.

It said that these adapters (see photo) posed a serious risk of their various configurations could be accessed while they were plugged into an electrical mains outlet.

The authority said consumers should refrain from using these adapters and return them to the place of purchase.

It also warned economic operators to withdraw the products from the market with immediate effect.

The authority said that should it encounter such adapters on the market during inspections, it may take legal action against the economic operators involved.
