ADPD calls for action to curb noise pollution
Noise pollution impacts people's health and wellbeing
ADPD on Tuesday called for measures to reduce pollution and its impact on people's health and wellbeing.
Party leader Carmel Cacopardo said several measures could be taken to control activity that generates excessive noise. For example, while the airport did not generally operate at night, there was no such limitation on the Freeport.
"Such measures should also be taken, even if they will affect the workings of the said terminal," he told a press conference.
Similar measures could be take for the entertainment industry where it impacts neighbours.
Cacopardo said there is a need for studies on the impact of noise from the freeport and the airport on the surrounding residential community. The same could be said of the entertainment industry.
"Such studies would be of great benefit to us as they would help us to address the impact that such pollution has on our physical and mental health. Once this is done, we can plan a course of action to deal with this in a concrete fashion," he said.
Cacopardo was accompanied by Melissa Bagley, an ADPD candidate.
