Advanced theft protection for laptops

Fujitsu announced it has a solution that does just that. Its Advanced Theft Protection makes it possible to delete part or the whole of the hard drive automatically after the mobile device has been so stolen, so your data doesn't fall into the wrong hands. It will even report back so you can satisfy your auditing obligations.

ATP takes protection to a whole new level with its multilayered approach. It's a fully integrated, modular system which even includes the hardware. It doesn't show up on menu listings, so prying eyes will never know it's there. And even if they did, ATP can't be overwritten or blocked externally, the company reassured.

Fujitsu uses Computrace, a combined piece of software on the BIOS and the hard drive so it's tamper-resistant. Once it's installed and registered, you can choose what steps should be taken if your computer goes missing.

It will be kept under a watchful eye, but if the worst does happen, you simply report the computer missing by phone or online. It's as easy as reporting your credit cards missing.

This activates the software, and further functions are installed on the hard drive so Computrace can track the computer and see how it is being used. If the hard drive is reformatted or replaced, the support in the BIOS simply rebuilds the necessary files to safeguard your data.
