Advent Calendar for creativity

The Malta Environment and Planning Authority, Middlesea Group, the Education Division, Nature Trust (Malta) and the EkoSkola Coordinating Committee have prepared an interactive Advent Calendar for primary schoolchildren.

The calendar, to be distributed in schools, features various environmental messages aimed at increasing children's sense of responsibility towards the environment.

Teachers can use the calendar from both an instructive and a creative point of view. It contains instructions on making simple decorations which are environmentally friendly. These decorations will be hung on a Christmas tree in Floriana.

There is also a competition: children are invited to draw what they understand by the word "environment". The best drawings from each school will be exhibited in the Mepa foyer in January.

The best entries will also be exhibited during an EkoSkola opening seminar where the winners will be presented with a prize.
