Afghan police have detained a young girl who says her brother forced her to wear a suicide vest packed with explosives.

She's being held by police in Helmand Province after surrendering herself saying she was forced by her brother to attack a checkpoint.

Her brother wis a Taliban commander.

Militants in Iraq have often used child bombers to bypass security checks but in Afghanistan it's a relatively rare experience for police.

The girl was reportedly unable to detonate the device.
