AFM personnel to enjoy higher salaries in new sectoral agreement

A €68-million five-year sector agreement that will significantly improve the salaries of all members of the Armed Forces of Malta was signed on Monday evening during a parade attended by the prime minister.
The government said this was the best package ever given to the members of the AFM.
The agreement was signed with the General Workers’ Union as the soldiers' representative. It follows other sectoral agreements for different sections of the public administration.
In an address, the prime minister spoke on the government's commitment to a stronger economy and a better quality of life.
He said this sectoral agreement was a recognition of the country's appreciation of the members of the AFM.
Those present for the ceremony included Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri and the commanding officer, Brigadier Clinton J O’Neill.
