The Armed Forces of Malta rescued a 45-year-old German diver off Gozo yesterday afternoon.

Roe Bieglinde, 45, was one of seven divers who were reported to have found themselves in difficulty swimming back to shore after diving some 150 metres off Dwejra's Azure window. The AFM said yesterday its rescue coordination centre was informed of the incident at around 1.10 p.m.

An AFM Alouette AS12 helicopter piloted by Capt. Anthony Zammit was sent out and winchman bombardier Ivan Saliba and rescuers staff sergeant Martin Borg and bombardier Jesmond Said lifted the diver to safety.
