AFM unit trained to counter drones

Training was held 'in response to evolving aerial threats'

A unit of the Armed Forces of Malta has completed a series of training exercises focused on countering drones.

In a brief statement posted to Facebook, the AFM said Delta Company, part of the 1 Regiment, had "successfully completed a series of Counter-Unmanned Aircraft System (C-UAS) training exercises" aimedat enhancing the unit's response "to evolving aerial threats".

"The training marks a significant step forward in the unit's ability to detect, deter, and neutralise unmanned aerial systems in dynamic environments," the army said.

No further details were provided about the equipment used during the exercises or who provided the training.
