It seems as if the taxation system is looming ahead as one of the political ploys for the next general election.

Uncertainty is again being created for the sake of political games. The business community has already suffered unnecessarily when VAT was changed to CET and two years later CET was again changed to VAT.

The constituted bodies must declare in the most emphatic manner that they, on behalf of their members, will not accept any capricious changes in the taxation system. This has to be made absolutely clear to avoid having the country go through another self-inflicted trauma.

In the meantime, our politicians should stop playing political games and collectively concentrate on finding solutions to the many problems the country is facing.
