Four players were given a one-match ban yesterday after seeing red in the U*Bet FA Trophy quarter-finals.

Valletta captain Gilbert Agius, Qormi striker Alfred Effiong and Ian Zammit, of Ħamrun Spartans, will miss the semi-finals as a result of their suspension.

Agius was dismissed after earning two yellow cards in quick succession in the second half of Valletta's 3-1 defeat of Birkirkara on Saturday. Nigerian Effiong was also red-carded for two bookings, the second for diving, during extra-time of Qormi's quarter-final against Hibs on Monday.

Zammit was shown a straight red card for hitting Sliema midfielder Pedrinho in the first half of Ħamrun's 5-2 win.

Pedrinho's late tackle on the Spartans winger-cum-forward also earned him a red card.

As Sliema are out of the FA Trophy, Pedrinho must serve his one-match ban in tomorrow's Premier League game against leaders Birkirkara.
