The General Workers' Union and Maltapost have reached an agreement over work practices of counter administrators at post offices.

According to the agreement, Maltapost has also committed itself to introduce new health and safety equipment, the union said.

The GWU said counter administrators had had to carry out duties that used to be carried out by indoor duties personnel and which did not form part of their work description. The situation cropped up when some operations were transferred from the Maltapost branches to the new hubs.

Section secretary Josephine Attard Sultana and shop steward Jeremy J. Camilleri headed the discussions with the Maltapost management.
