Air Malta has temporarily transferred its Brussels service to Liège airport in view of a strike by baggage handlers. The strike is seriously disrupting operations at Brussels where several airlines have cancelled or re-routed their flights to alternative destinations.

The strike commenced abruptly minutes before the landing of Air Malta’s flight to Brussels last Sunday. Passengers were unable to reclaim their luggage at the airport while the luggage of the passengers on the return flight was not loaded onto the aircraft. Air Malta has since distributed the luggage to its customers both in Malta and in Brussels.

As from yesterday the airline started operating its Brussels service to Liège Airport – 90 minutes drive away from the Belgian capital. Free coach transfer is being provided to all passengers.

The airline said check-in for the Malta bound flight KM 421 is being done at Brussels airport and passengers are advised to still proceed to Brussels airport to complete their airport formalities for their return flight to Malta. Passengers were also advised to visit www.maltairport.com or contact flight enquiries of the Malta International Airport on tel: 5004 3333 for updated flight departure / arrival information.
