Air Malta, West Ham in talks over training camp

Air Malta are still engaged in discussions with West Ham United over bringing the English Premier League club to Malta for a training camp, a spokesman for the national airline told The Times.

"I can confirm that we are in talks with West Ham over the possibility of hosting their senior squad for a training camp in Malta in February," the Air Malta spokesman said.

"This proposal is the fruit of the initiatives the company has undertaken in the last few years to enhance brand awareness by increasing the level of our advertising in sporting activities overseas, especially in England and Italy."

As reported in The Sunday Times, West Ham United have identified the Hibs Stadium as the venue for their training camp in Malta.

The club are awaiting a new date for their postponed league match against Wolves last week before making a final decision on whether to press ahead with plans to hold a training camp in Malta.
