Labour MP Carmelo Abela demanded an explanation in parliament yesterday over how the forthcoming Malta International Air Show was to be transmitted live solely by Net Television, without the station being charged anything.

Mr Abela said MIA director JR Darmanin recently informed the air show organising committee of the arrangements. When asked if other stations had also been contacted, his "arrogant" reply was that no one told him what to do in his own house, Mr Abela said.

Mr Abela insisted that politics should not be involved in events such as the air show.
