The government should hang its head in shame at the news that 1,500 properties have been registered as short-term tourist accommodation, when there are known to be thousands registered on Airbnb alone, the president of the Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association Tony Zahra told #TimesTalk.

He stressed that something needed to be done to ensure a level playing-field, saying that failure to do so would merely push property prices up even further for the Maltese.
