Passenger movements at the airport rose by 6.3 per cent in February over the same period last year, bringing the overall increase this year to 6.7 per cent over 2009.
Figures released by the Malta International Airport show the number of passengers in February rose by 8,752 to 148,497 from 139,745.
On a market basis, the number of passengers rose by 3.2 per cent from the UK, 16.1 per cent from Italy and 75.6 per cent from Spain but fell by 10.1 from Germany.
The busiest days were February 13 with 7,262 passengers and the 20th with 62 aircraft.
Similarly, aircraft movements increased by three per cent or by 41 to 1,426 from 1,385.
