I am writing in my name but surely many host families like mine will agree with me that our foreign students who are under age are being served alcohol without questions asked. All these outlets in Paceville care about is their revenue. No one seems to care as to the consequences and the aftermath. Let the money roll in.

Last week one of my students ended in hospital for an overnight stay due to the abuse of alcohol. He is only 15 years old and looks even younger for his age. He was not asked for his ID but asked to pay for his drinks.

Two days later my 16-year-old student got drunk but instead of ending in hospital he ended on my doorstep after falling on the stairs. I had to show him to his bedroom as he was so drunk. I was kept up all night as he kept visiting the bathroom. He was not asked for an ID either but was asked to pay for his drinks.

At a meeting a couple of years ago with the Minister of Tourism we as host families were given a whole bunch of crappy rules as how to accommodate our students. We are even asked to produce a plan of the house and the room the students will be using and to provide a police conduct certificate.

But of these strangers (the students) we ask nothing except that they bring their money with them. If we do not abide by these rules we get fined but I have yet to hear of any outlet in Paceville being shut down for serving alcohol to minors.

Maybe this also provides a lot of revenue for the government. If I had "two" of my students being served alcohol in a matter of two days how many others were being served? It seems that cigarettes are not allowed to be sold to under 16-year-olds but alcohol can flow freely.

We host families have a lot to put up with while hosting students, such as damage to property, theft, feeling like a guest in your own home, taking abuse and handling drunken students who sometimes can get violent etc.
