The Nationalist Party's electoral commission received a declaration of interest for the election of PN Leader from Alex Borg on Thursday.
According to the party's statute, the call for expressions of interest for this post will remain open until July 1 at 6pm.
The PN launched the process for the election or confirmation of a leader on Wednesday.
Only PN members with a paid-up membership can contest this post.
Should Borg be uncontested, a vote to confirm him will still be held.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, former PN leader Adrian Delia expressed his "full support" for his "friend" Alex Borg.
Delia and Borg had gone head to head last year for the leadership of the party, with Borg ultimately being declared the winner with a mere 44 votes majority.
In his social media post, Delia put all that behind him as he emphasised unity and support.
"Now is the time to continue learning, building, innovating and paving the way for a brighter future for our country," Delia wrote.
"You will always find me by your side," he added.
