As a great enthusiast and supporter of Maltese rugby, with a sincere conviction that there is a huge future for the game in Malta when the village talent is fully tapped, I must draw your attention to the enormous faux pas published in the Weekender supplement.

Please inform Ms Anna Briffa that Rugby is situated in Warwickshire, England, not Wales as she claimed.

Warwickshire, England is the birthplace of rugby football, and indeed in the '60s, when I was a player, Warwickshire were champions six years out of seven.

Indeed and unfortunately, the balance of power has moved slightly to the east to the neighbouring county, Leicestershire, with Leicester as the champions of Europe 2002.

Most English rugby players, past and present, will, like me, be barely able to contain their fury at this unbelievable faux pas - the Welsh may laugh their red socks off.
