As in previous years, the Malta Jazz festival's line up of international artists attracted a big crowd to Ta' Liesse, in Valletta which hosted the annual event.

Last weekend's was the 14th Jazz Festival that has made a name for Malta, putting the annual event on the international itinerary.

On Friday, the audience enjoyed listening to the 18-strong Johann Strauss Big Band School led by Mro Paul Abela.

Keyboard player Geri Allen played improvised melodies during the first part of Friday's show.

An acoustic style was played by Brazilian Joao Bosco de Riviera combining jazz elements with traditional traits of Brazilian music. The Yellowjackets were the last to perform on Friday.

Randy Brecker and Bill Evans Soulbop Band, Dave Douglas and DJ Olive as well as Monica Salmaso and Paulo Bellinati were the protagonists of the second night of the Malta Jazz Festival.

On Sunday, the festival featured Nigerian musician Toby Fayeh and his band. The John Scofield Trio featuring, Steve Swallow and Bill Stewart as well as the Deborah Carter Quartet also played.
