The police had thoroughly investigated allegations that police officers had received counterfeit money for drug trafficking purposes but nothing had resulted, Justice and Home Affairs Minister Tonio Borg said in parliament.

He was replying to remarks made last week by Labour MP Marie-Louise Coleiro who had called for an inquiry into the allegations.

Dr Borg said the allegations were investigated by senior police officers even before they were mentioned in parliament.

He pointed out that the allegations were made by people under investigation, and their motive was dubious. However, anyone having any information should forward it to him or the police.
