An inquiry board has been set up to carry out an independent investigation following allegations of fraud and graft in regard to former group managing director, the Allied Group of Companies said this afternoon.

The board is composed of Judge Giovanni Bonello (chairman), Dr Kevin Dingli, Mr Paul Mercieca and Mr Kevin Valenzia.

The group said it is committed to provide the board of inquiry with all the necessary means and information which it may request for the successful completion of its mandate.

Adrian Hillman resigned last Monday after journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia alleged on her blog that he had received secret payments for purchases by the Allied Group from Kasco, a company owned by the Prime Minister’s chief of staff, Keith Schembri.

Both Mr Hillman and Mr Schembri have denied the accusations.
