Bank of Valletta branches handled almost 40,000 euro transactions between Wednesday and yesterday at 2 p.m.

In the same period, customers made a further 11,000 euro cash withdrawal transactions from the bank's ATMs.

"We are pleased with the level of service we are offering from Bank of Valletta branches and the feedback from customers is very encouraging," John Cassar Torreggiani, executive head responsible for the euro changeover programme at Bank of Valletta, said. The bank has over 600 employees deployed at the front line in order to ensure that the best possible service is offered to customers.

"We are pleased to note that Bank of Valletta has taken a leading role in the euro changeover process and is at the forefront in its efforts to make the changeover as smooth and quick as possible," Mr Cassar Torreggiani said.

"It is encouraging to note that the euro is increasingly entering into circulation," he said, adding that the bank's branches will today be offering full banking services up to 4 p.m.
